Open Source version dead?
  • EcnaEcna April 2011
Last year there was talk of an open source version of ACV being released. It's april and I haven't been able to find any information about that. Is that project dead?

I haven't yet found an open source comic archive viewer for android.
I'm guessing maybe an ePub reader like FBReaderJ could be modified to act as a crude CBZ viewer

I'd love to see an Open Source version even if it was an older release or version with reduced functionality. It would very reassuring to know that even if development priorities change I'd still at least have the option of getting a basic equivalent of ACV running on unsupported Android platforms or whatever the future throws at us.

When I say "reduced functionality" I mean without RAR support as my main example.

It took us long enough, but Droid Comic Viewer is now open source.

Thanks zissou and everyone for creating Droid Comic Viewer and for making it open source!

There was a bug on ICS (and HC I think) where the preferences screen was blank. My guess is the later APIs got rid of PreferenceScreen. Anyhow, I downloaded and built the source as-is and now it works on my Galaxy Nexus!

You can download the .apk file here: http://heydonny.com/droid-comic-viewer.apk

Note: You have to uninstall ACV first since this one is built with a debug certificate.

Howdy, Stranger!
