ICS Support
  • ukoziakukoziak December 2011
Hi there! First of all, I love this app.

I would like to know if you are currently working on support for ICS? I loved this app on my old HTC Desire, and currently switched to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus which is running ICS. Unfortunately I can't access the settings for Droid Comic Viewer. When I view the settings, everything just looks blank.

Here's a screenshot of the settings:

Really look forward to hearing from you.

Hello, I'd like to +1 this request. I'm also a huge fan of ACV and love my new Galaxy Nexus. I just wish they'd love one another :p

I'm not sure how helpful this is, but using logcat, I get the following debug information when I open the settings menu:

    --- Begin logcat dump ---
    01-05 13:53:24.653: I/WindowManager(183): createSurface Window{41dc05c0 AtchDlg:net.androidcomics.acv/net.androidcomics.acv.ComicViewer paused=false}: DRAW NOW PENDING
    01-05 13:53:25.692: I/WindowManager(183): createSurface Window{41fe8b30 AtchDlg:net.androidcomics.acv/net.androidcomics.acv.ComicViewer paused=false}: DRAW NOW PENDING
    01-05 13:53:28.567: I/ActivityManager(183): START {cmp=net.androidcomics.acv/.Settings} from pid 6646
    01-05 13:53:28.700: I/WindowManager(183): createSurface Window{426efec0 net.androidcomics.acv/net.androidcomics.acv.Settings paused=false}: DRAW NOW PENDING
    01-05 13:53:28.794: V/PhoneStatusBar(340): setLightsOn(true)
    01-05 13:53:29.021: I/ActivityManager(183): Displayed net.androidcomics.acv/.Settings: +370ms
    --- End logcat dump ---

let me know if I can be of any help in development/testing.

I figured a (rather difficult) workaround.

Basically I copied the ACV preferences from one rooted device to another. On my froyo device, configured ACV as I liked, then copied the preferences file /data/data/net.androidcomics.acv/shared_prefs/net.androidcomics.acv_preferences.xml with ES File Explorer (root-explorer enabled). I then overwrote that file on my other rooted ICS device with root-explorer in the same location.

It was a little tedious but it works for me.
  • I used appExtractor to do something very similar to dnutt

I restored my AVC data settings from my CM7 backup to CM9. Now I dont get force closes.

    Devs please update the app.

I finally noticed that ACV has gone open source. The git log shows that the preferences bug has been fixed but this hasn't been pushed to the market. I downloaded the source and built it with no changes to the source and installed it on my GNex and voila, working preferences.

You can download the .apk file here: http://heydonny.com/droid-comic-viewer.apk

Note: You have to uninstall ACV first since this one is built with a debug certificate.

Howdy, Stranger!
